I ran Slate's culture blog, Brow Beat, edited the site's TV coverage and its language column, and co-edited the Slate Book Review.

I helped choose the best books of the year for one of the country's most distinguished literary prizes. I also curated a series on reading for the NBCC blog.

I oversaw the editorial process and every aspect of production and distribution for PEN's semiannual literary magazine. I solicited new work, considered submissions, provided the first edit on most pieces, and did much of the copyediting and proofreading. I also conceived and moderated public events and served as the primary liaison between the magazine.

I worked with all of PEN's departments and PEN's executive director to ensure that news from the organization reached relevant print, online, radio, and television outlets.

Taught writing to Harvard freshman. Selected reading, created syllabi, prepared lectures, led discussions. Worked extensively with students in formulating and revising essays.
