I manage the technology team that supports the equity trading part of the company.When I started in 2007 the IT systems were in a mess due primarily to the rapid growth of the company. Support was through the roof and the existing code was unmaintainable and running on outdated platforms.My first task was to thoroughly review the existing systems and business process and design a plan to upgrade the existing technology platforms and reduce support to a manageable level. This part of the process is now complete, support is down over 80% giving my team time to focus on improving the technology available our equity traders and portfolio managersI implemented Disaster Recovery and High Availability systems and procedures to provide business continuity in the event of a disasterDesigned and implemented a comprehensive monitoring system for the trading systems, reducing the time to correct errors from 3 days to minutes

•As a key owner of the Core Software framework I took the project through several major release cycles from requirements through to maintenance. •Liaising with the community of over 100 staff in 5 time zones to determine requirements and agree design. •Implemented key components to supply real-time data display, these components are now used by dozens of applications with 1000s of users. •Lead a team to implement a replacement portfolio trading application, the focus was on efficient data display to allow the business to expand 50% without expanding headcount. •Designed & implemented an application to display real time order flow and market data to Equity Traders, now used by over 300 traders to help them make better trading decisions.

During my time at Evolution I worked on a number of projects for different clients in a variety of roles. •UBS – Architected a server for processing real-time FX trades over the internet and led the development effort. •Goldman Sachs – Developed a real-time data aggregation and publishing service, built a data warehouse for all trade and execution data, migrated this from Sybase to IBM DB2, built an equity collaboration messaging system. •UBS – worked on an award winning website for selling warrants to consumers
