David Hejl is the Founder / Winemaker of Domaine Della and the former General Manager and CEO of Kosta Browne Winery in Sebastopol, California. At Kosta Browne, the team's value creation successfully led us to a letter of intent to divest to a synergistic buyer; that deal is now closed. Prior to joining Kosta Browne, David accumulated over 30 years experience in growth-oriented strategy execution within the food and consumer products industry and held executive positions with Nabisco, Berkshire Hathaway, Gourmet Award Foods, Ruiz Food Products as well as 15 years of private equity experience as a Partner and Operating Team Member with Unique Partners and currently sits on various Boards of Directors.David received his BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Nebraska, is a CPA, holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management as well as a graduate of the Wine Executive Program at the University of California, Davis. David is also a noted speaker and has been on the Marketing and Finance faculty of Sonoma State University Wine MBA, University of San Francisco, McLaren School of Management, Marquette University and the University of St. Thomas.David and his two boys Andrew and Zachary have lived in Sonoma County for over twenty years and reside in Bennett Valley. These wines are extremely limited production and sourced from some of the finest vineyards in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.Domaine Della began as a dream, born from David’s obsession and enchantment with Pinot Noir, and was later materialized with the shared vision, purpose and commitment from fellow founders; his sister and brother-in-law, Lee and Ernie LeRoy. Domaine Della honors David and Lee’s mother who died long before her time.David’s passion for fine wine began while putting himself through school working as a waiter, sommelier and chef, but found his true inspiration while living in Paris working for Nabisco. It was there that he experienced first-hand the art of wine, food and culture in a way that was spiritual, all in the beautiful City of Light. David always had his eye on the wine industry and a strong desire to leverage his expertise in creating a luxury wine brand. David has been a student of fine wine and food his whole life and from his perspective, has been training for this role for three decades. Having traveled around the world nearly 50 times on international assignments and visiting every major wine region in the world, each of these adventures was never complete without discovering and enjoying the local food, wines and culture.
