Reporting to the Group Safety Manager, responsibilities include supporting equipment and process selection and usage to reduce exposure to illness and injury while assisting mine sites with occupational health and safety (OHS) programs, initiatives and other requirements. Identify, assess and control health hazards in the workplace and recommend and develop mine site specific OHS programs for approval by senior management. Implement new health and hygiene initiatives and processes and assist and conduct hands on and theoretical training to mine site employees in OHS monitoring. Major Achievements:Enabled instant samples analysis and reduced per sample cost by developing a small gravimetric laboratory in Zambia.Provided effective management and control for eliminating or reducing risk by establishing Industrial Hygiene (IH) programmes in nine operating and development mine sites while developing and training teams to monitor dust, fibrous materials, biological contamination, noise, water and other factors including radiation and acid mist. Managed potential physical, biological and psychological health risks at each site and ensured a uniform standard across all sites by developing appropriate corporate IH policy, governance and procedures.
