I invent mathematical models to detect mutations and other patterns in genetic sequencing data using a variety of techniques included probabilistic graphical models, deep learning, and computer science algorithms. I was a swimming technique junkie in those days but I learned that it's not enough to identify everything wrong in someone's stroke. You have to combine psychology and biomechanics to find the one problem to start with that will both make sense to.
