My team is responsible for all of the organization's GCP infrastructure, managed via Terraform. We establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers.

My team is focused on our Authorization Bounded Context, which serves information to most of the other Bounded Contexts in our product. I joined the team to help migrate the application from .NET Framework to .NET Core, and away from older Continuous Delivery pipeline tools to Terraform Enterprise, GitLab, and Kubernetes. The new pipeline reduces hand-offs and provides enhanced visibility and monitoring to the team, so we can make better decisions.We regularly experiment with new technologies within our Kubernetes environment to improve our ability to observe, maintain, and scale our application.

As a Principal Engineer, I helped create content in our platform that provides engineers with the concepts necessary to be successful at Pluralsight, with a focus on defining our company's engineering practices and principles.I participated early in the hiring process for new engineers, coordinating interviews and related activities to help our teams discover new talent.I worked directly with engineers on our cross-functional product teams as a mentor, to help engineers deal with the complexities of building and maintaining sustainable code.

As a DevOps Engineer, I spearheaded an initiative to move our Infrastructure as Code into Terraform to maintain our AWS assets for multiple Bounded Contexts. This automation accelerated our ability to perform Disaster Recovery games, so our product would be resilient to unforeseen problems.With our Continuous Delivery pipelines for .NET Framework applications, I created self-service functionality for the software engineers, to streamline their processes and allow them to make better, and more rapid, decisions in how to build out their applications.

As a Software Crafter, I helped create our first Bounded Context as we started to dismantle our monolithic application. The new Bounded Context was built using the .NET Framework and leveraged TeamCity for Continuous Integration build and testing. We introduced Octopus Deploy for deployment to some of our first EC2 infrastructure in AWS. We continued this pattern as we moved toward a microservice architecture for our product.I partnered with engineering leadership to build a site of information radiators that gave visibility into all the Continuous Delivery pipelines for our applications. Using web sockets (SignalR), the site provided real-time visibility into pipeline changes that allowed engineers to deploy our Bounded Contexts quickly, with confidence.

My first Pluralsight course, Continuous Deployment with Team Foundation Server 2010, was release in 2012 and retired in 2020. It focused on using customized TFS build configurations to work in conjunction with WebDeploy to automate deployment of various .NET Framework application types.My second Pluralsight course, Getting Started With Release Management for Visual Studio 2013, was released in 2014 and retired in 2020. It focused on getting learners up and running with basic deployment pipelines for web applications, Windows services, and SQL Server databases.

As a Software Engineer on the Corporate Dev team, I helped build and maintain several internal applications written in the .NET Framework. Most were web applications in ASP.NET, but we also worked with Windows Services and some Desktop applications. I worked at mentoring the team in TDD and Continuous Delivery practices, as I was learning to use them in my own work.As an ALM specialist on the team, I administered our Team Foundation Server installation, starting with version 2010, and upgrading through 2013. I built and maintained Continuous Delivery pipelines in TFS using techniques from a Pluralsight course I authored, Continuous Deployment with Team Foundation Server 2010.Later, my team was an early adopter of a new tool, Release Management for Visual Studio 2013, which I used to enable more sophisticated pipelines for all my team's applications. We also unlocked auditing capabilities that were previously unavailable.

Started as an Engineering Technician (draftsman) but found my calling in the programmer/analyst realm quickly. Decided that my skills could best be used supporting systems and writing applications. So, I made the jump into the IT department and haven't looked back.

Worked mostly with car audio products. Minored in home audio/home theater. Oh yeah, lots of boats in the latter part of this career. We did some pretty fine installs in 35-40 footers.
