In my time at the Center, my role has grown from primarily acting as a team member and data analyst to leading teams, managing staff members, and serving as Principal Investigator or Co-PI on projects focusing on substance use prevention and treatment. I lead teams to design, program and implement data analysis and reporting strategies for multiple qualitative and quantitative research projects. I also collaborate with stakeholders, external colleagues and funders to develop and implement research and evaluation projects that inform key federally-funded programs throughout Delaware.Current ProjectsPI, DE Substance Abuse Treatment & Mental Health Block Grant EvaluationThrough the Block Grants, SAMHSA provides funds to the State of Delaware to prevent and treat substance use, as well as provide mental health services. I lead a team that designs and implements evaluation activities for these projects. Additionally, our team analyzes and visualizes client-level treatment data to support state initiatives.PI, College Risk Behaviors Study (CRBS)An annual survey of a random sample of undergraduates that asks students about substance use and risky behaviors. Survey results are used to support programs that improve student wellbeing, promote data-driven decision making, and provide research opportunities to the UD community. We collaborate with our funder to design, build and administer the survey, analyze the data and produce a publicly released report.Co-PI, Delaware Child Psychiatry Access Program EvaluationThe HRSA-funded Delaware Child Psychiatric Access Program provides telehealth consultation and training to pediatric providers to provide better and more prompt psychiatric treatment for their patients. Our team conducted a needs assessment among Delaware’s pediatric providers. We annually survey providers enrolled in the program and analyze consultant-provider encounter data for quality improvement.Co-PI, Blue Hens CARE Bystander Training Evaluation

I have had a variety of roles on teams primarily conducting research on substance use prevention and treatment. I work on teams conducting qualitative and quantitative research, and lead teams to design, program and implement data analysis and reporting strategies. As a co-lead, I manage multiple projects and collaborated with stakeholders, external colleagues and funders to develop and implement research and evaluation projects that inform key SAMHSA-funded programs throughout Delaware.Through these projects, I seek to increase both my own and my team's capacity to analyze data, and disseminate data through means such as infographics and ArcGIS dashboards in order to provide stakeholders the data they need in formats that can be easily interpreted by building networks of collaborators throughout the University. I ensure that every project I'm involved with adheres to human subjects protections, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. It is important to me that all data collection we engage in is ethical. In working with HIPAA and Part 2 protected data, I have collaborated with University IT to ensure that sensitive data are encrypted to standards beyond those required by NIST FIPS 140-2, and manage our team's efforts to restrict access to this data.
