About David Haines

Public sector professional and senior manager, now serving the education sector through the Government & Health Industries practice at PwC UK.Before joining PwC in January 2023 I spent a decade in three very different universities, where I managed major income-generating programmes, built high-performing teams, and managed award-winning campaigns in the UK, Australia, and Hong Kong, as well as undertaking professional development in the USA.Having worked on everything from establishing new interdisciplinary research centres to chairs in neonatal paediatrics, large-scale professional workforce reviews to scholarships for refugees, I’ve been privileged to see and contribute to a huge breadth of innovation and impact driven through universities, and in partnership. I am passionate about the student experience, widening participation, internationalisation, diverse areas of research, translating strategy into action, sustainable innovation and disruption, and the role of the civic university in public life. TL/DR: Optimist. Strategist. Internationalist. Higher Educationalist(?). Still learning.
