Cathay Pacific Airways•• Cathay Pacific is an international airline based in Hong Kong, offering scheduled Passenger and Cargo services to 203 destinations in 50 countries. •• As at 31st December 2014 the Airline had 147 wide & narrow body aircraft in its fleet, including Airbus A320, A321, A330, A340 and Boeing 747 and 777 aircraft types, with 79 aircraft on order including Airbus A350-900 and A350-1000, and Boeing 777-9X aircraft types. This is the fourth time Cathay has received this award, which is decided by public voting.Project Horizon•• Project Horizon' is a four-year transformation and modernisation of Cathay Pacific Airways' Group Procurement and Finance corporate functions.•• As Procurement Lead on this project, I am responsible for leading a team of four Procurement Specialists. Working with E&Y (Ernst & Young) we conducted an 'as is' assessment using a leading Procurement Operating Model. Using the results of this assessment I have developed and am implementing a strategy to modernise the Procurement function, which includes the selection and implementation of SAP Finance and P2P, Ariba Sourcing, Spend Analytics, Supplier and Contract Management. •• Once fully implemented, the associated Procurement benefits will exceed HKD2bn (USD258m/GBP169m).

Manager Procurement, Aircraft Trading• I managed the entire commercial process governing the acquisition, disposal, and leasing of all Cathay Pacific Airways, Dragon Airlines and Air Hong Kong fleet of aircraft. • I managed all internal relationships with Airline Planning (whose primary role is establishing future requirements and deployment of the existing fleet of aircraft), Flight Operations (whose primary role is the operation of existing fleet) and Engineering (whose primary role is maintaining the existing fleet)• I also managed the relationships between Cathay Pacific Airways and their major suppliers Airbus, Boeing and our major aircraft leasing companies. • Additionally, I was a member of the Senior Management Team of the Airline Procurement Department.• During my time in this role I was the dedicated lead responsible for the acquisition of the company's' entire fleet of Boeing 777-300ER's, 747-8F and their Airbus A350's. This was a total of 112 aircraft with a value of over USD33bn at list prices. Other aircraft transaction types I lead included sale/leasebacks, operating lease extensions, operating lease returns, wet lease agreements.

Managing procurement activities relating to the acquisition and disposal of aircraft

As Manager of Procurement for IT, I was a key contributor to the company's IT strategic direction by developing and implementing all Strategic source plans for all of our major IT categories. This included all IT hardware, software, development, services and outsourcing. I created an innovative Relationship Management and Sourcing Process applicable to our long term strategic supplier relationships. I also played a lead role in managing these relationships. As Head of Network and Operations - SRM, I was responsible for the effective provision of services from the Bank's Sourcing and Relationship Management department (SRM) to the Bank's Network and Operations division (a business critical division within the Bank's IT operations). Additionally I was responsible for the development and implementation of the Sourcing Strategy applicable to Network and Operations with an annual budget responsibility of GBP250m. In summary the role encompassed internal Relationship Management, Procurement Strategy and Delivery Management performed by the Bank's central team of IT Procurement professionals.In less than six months, I was headhunted by Cathay Pacific and relocated to Hong Kong.

The bank is the seventh-largest worldwide.As Senior Software Purchasing Manager, Group Purchasing I managed the banks purchasing requirements for all of their desktop software packages globally.I was responsible for budgets in excess of GBP20m annually. My success in this role led to me being promoted to Head of Network and Operations, Sourcing and Relationship Management in less than a year.

Allied Domecq was the result of a 1994 merger between Allied Lyons and Pedro Domecq.Ansells, was a pubs and restaurants division within Allied Domecq Retail, with over 2,000 branded pubs and restaurants throughout the UK Midlands.A Head of Purchasing I was responsible for all sourcing and supplier performance management, covering the provision of goods and services applicable to the pubs and restaurants operations (ranging from food to property measured term maintenance contracts), and all purchasing requirements applicable to major refurbishments (GBP2M+) of the pubs and restaurants (ranging from catering equipment to carpets).In addition to the regional role at Ansells I had responsibility for Allied Domecq Retail national corporate purchasing requirements of IT (hardware, software and associated services).

Plaxton Coach and Bus was the UK's largest manufacturer of luxury coaches and buses.My role was responsible for the sourcing and supply of a wide range of materials (including aluminium extrusions/sheets, injection moulding plastics, steel sections/sheets, windscreens, adhesives, seat materials, paint, AV equipment etc) for the production line. Material management was supported by the use of MRPII.

AE Auto Parts supplied precision engineered engine parts to the global automotive after market industry, and was a division of Turner and Newall PLC (and formally part of Associated Engineering PLC). In my role as Buyer I was responsible for the sourcing, supply and inventory management of high volume, fast moving parts such as pistons, piston rings, bearings, valves, oil and water pumps for a very wide range of petrol and diesel engine types, sourcing and supply from and to global markets.
