Responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of the firm’s financial reporting, accounts payable and credit functions. I supported the CFO in commercial analysis and decision making. My position required leadership of several finance teams, management of internal controls and compliance, efficient use of reporting tools, creating transparency in financial reporting and improving core processes.Specific responsibilities included:• Financial Accounting- monthly and annual profit and balance sheet reporting, bank account and balance sheet reconciliation process, management of annual statutory accounts process and coordination of external audit delivery.• Management Accounting- month end close process and monthly financial report production including KPIs, supporting function heads with monthly financials and budget preparation.• Accounting Systems & Processes- maintenance of G/L and data integrity; providing input into TM1 financial reporting tool.• Treasury- providing support in corporate financing decisions and relationships with financiers; input into cash flow model, overseeing cash flow reporting, maintenance of banking software. • Accounts Payable- overseeing function comprising supplier maintenance, processing timeliness and accuracy, data integrity, controls, adherence to firm policy on purchasing, expense reimbursement, and credit card usage.• Credit- overseeing function comprising debt recovery procedures, adherence to firm policies, reporting, review and management of KPIs, partner portfolio reviews.

I joined Aon (a former client when I was with EY) in 2004, excited by an initial opportunity to play a leading role in establishing the company’s SOX compliance program in Australia. In this role, I was responsible for providing assurance on the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes, particularly with respect to Section 404 of the US Sarbanes Oxley Act. I was required to provide assessment and assurance on:• The framework for risk management and compliance;• The effectiveness of risk management and compliance processes;• The adequacy and consistent application of financial controls; and• The reliability and integrity of management information.My key tasks included audit initiation and planning, fieldwork, management reporting and recommendations, and monitoring of outcomes. The role required a significant amount of collaboration with Finance, IT, HR, internal and external auditors, and overseas SOX team colleagues.In 2006, I also assumed responsibility for the Financial Reporting team. This involved managing a team of 3 staff responsible for the preparation of Australian statutory financial statements, BAS, income tax returns, and FBT returns.

I was seconded to the Financial Services Group in the Sydney office in July 2001 as an Audit Senior to help fill a need for staff with experience in the insurance industry. My initial assignment was to work as part of the team responsible for the special purpose audit of a large, Queensland-based insurer's $1.4 billion acquisition of a home and motor insurance provider. During my tenure in the Sydney office, I was promoted to Audit Manager. I was responsible for managing the audit process from planning to completion. Specific responsibilities included:• Assessing risk and developing the audit strategy;• Client coordination;• Staff scheduling;• Supervision of staff;• Supervision and review of audit execution; and• Reporting audit results.Audit experience included:• Corporations Act audits;• US subsidiary audits;• APRA annual audits;• APRA directed review audits; and• Government-owned insurance company audits.

I was seconded to the Zurich office to work on a tender for the global audit of one of the world’s leading financial services organisations. At the time, the company had USD 50.0 billion in business volume, 35 million customers in over 60 countries, and over 70,000 employees. US-based staff were specifically sought for the tender due to the company’s significant presence in the US.In my role, I was responsible for research and preparation of tender documents, project administration, and coordination. I was required to draw upon my US-based auditing experience in developing the tender plan.

I started this role as a graduate in the firm’s insurance group. In 1999, I was promoted to a Senior Auditor. Key clients included:• A US-based general insurer specialising in long-haul trucking and non-standard auto insurance, with subsidiaries in Canada and Bermuda.• A large, US-based insurance agency.• A growing managing general agent specialising in short-term and medical stop-loss insurance., with an affiliated Bermuda-based reinsurance company.
