Directly reporting to the Executive Officer, my current functions include:End User Support:• Provide IT Support to staffNetwork Administration:• Pro-actively monitor the networked systems to ensure maximum availability• Manage the installation of software updates & security patches to all workstations & servers • Manage the installation and updates of anti-virus software• Manage the backup systems to ensure consistent backups• Service, repair, and upgrade hardware• Provide visual checks of equipment based in the local server room and provide “Remote Hands” to hosted systems ownersSoftware Development:• Provide maintenance, support, and additional functionality to software created in house• Ensure that source code for any software written is stored with version control in a location that is backed-up• Provide other programming staff with access to backed-up and version controlled repositoriesBusiness Process Analysis:• Work with staff members to see where business processes can be improved with the introduction of new IT systems, or the updating of existing IT systems.Communications:• Maintain communication equipment; both data and voice• Report faults to contract providers and follow up until resolved• Liaise with customers and suppliers for creation and management of EDI linksDepartmental Management:• General day to day staff supervision, including resource management, holiday/sickness etc• Management of the appraisal process for the department• Preparation and management of the departmental budgetMiscellaneous:• Desktop Screen Equipment (DSE) / Workstation assessments for staff as required• Produce and maintain the “K” Line Ipswich Systems manual & related documentation• Provide support to, and cover for both the Systems Administrator, and Systems Project Administrator roles as required• Prepare schematic drawings for IT related projects• Liaise with consultants who may provide additional IT services

Working with "K" Line staff to complete new systems projects such as:Installation of IT systems into a new office location, including the fitting out of a new server room, structured cabling, raised floors, electric power-track systems.

Working from the one-time sister company "K" Line (Europe) Limited, providing remote and on-site support for, and administering on-site Microsoft Exchange Services, Microsoft SQL Server, Terminal Server Application Servers, Thin Client and PC workstations.Also managing the Nortel BCM50 phone system.

Developing EDI [Electronic Data Interchange] solutions with our suppliers, and liaising with the European head office teams to ensure that data is transferred efficiently and without errors.Also assisting with IT network issues as and when needed.

Working as a network administrator, looking after a Windows NT/2000 based network, providing first line support for sixty users.
