As a response to Covid-19 and the closure of the ExxonMobil project in Mozambique, I began my own consultancy to maximise opportunities for working from home and leveraging my 40 years experience in Training in the UK and Middle East in the Construction and Oil and Gas sectors and 10 years in Local Content in the Oil and Gas Sector in Africa. I offer consultancy services surrounding local content; for example, technical advice on matters like capacity building; education and training; the design and development of Enterprise Development Centers; conducting Industrial Baseline Surveys and firm level diagnostics; Local Content Policy, Legislation and Regulation. I also design capacity building projects. I offer these services to Governments, Donors, other consultants, IOCs, EPCs and Oil and Gas Service Providers.Currently I am working with Deloitte Mozambique, as technical subject matter expert, on a World Bank (MAGTAP) funded project for MIREME, to develop a strategic roadmap for local content in Mozambique.

Working as part of the SocioEconomic team in Maputo my role is to assure the various EPCs achieve their local content obligations, targets and comply with legislation by monitoring their performances through an IT based expenditure/ employment/ training reporting system with regular progress meetings.

With the World Bank in Kenya I work on two separate but related projects. The first is KEPTAP (Kenya Petroleum Technical Assistance Project) - this is WBG credit to Government of Kenya to build capacity to facilitate appropriate governance of the Oil and Gas sector.The two main beneficiaries are the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (lead Ministry) and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives. Component A is a regulatory programme, Component B is an income management programme and Component C is the local content programme. I advise the Project Implementation Team in Component C on all things local content and capacity building including local content policy and oil and gas local content regulations.The second project is PBO (Petroleum Business Opportunities) which is a DFID funded initiative that identifies Kenyan industrial sectors with potential to engage with the O&G sector; quantify performance gaps and build capacity in firms within priority sectors, to raise performance standards to O&G requirements. PBO is also developing a local Support Platform that will continue the capacity building work once the PBO funding is exhausted. I am in-country lead for this project.A significant amount of time is spent liaising with the following sectors; public (ministries and parastatals), private, development partner, civil society, vocational training and higher education.The combined role is also about research and analysis, designing projects, contracting delivery partners and maintaining WBG oversight of contracts and associated deliverables. In addition I train, coach and mentor Government staff in Local Content and Capacity Building.

Petroleum Business Opportunities (PBO) is a private sector focused capacity building project. PBO's primary aim is to improve the performance standards of firms within sectors that have potential to supply oil and gas and have a sustainable future either within oil and gas and/or in the wider economy.The project is financed by UKAid through K-EXPRO and implemented by the World Bank.

This role was primarily focused on Africa with time spent at HQ London. Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and Mauritania were the business units for which I built local teams, developed capacity building projects, liaised with government ministries, parastatals, NGOs, Development Partners, private sector bodies and firms and local communities. In London I developed, with the SCM team, local content policies and business units' LC plans and methods for capturing LC data. I spent a significant period on Kenya developing local content direction, local community liaison and delivering capacity building projects.

Joint Operations is an upstream oil and gas facility pioneering steam flood extractive techniques through Chevron and Kuwait Gulf Oil Co.The facility has its own dedicated training centre that delivers English, Management and Technical Oil and Gas Training.It was my responsibility to roll out the Chevron Operational Excellence training and employee tracking system and manage the delivery of the training, in addition to managing vocational competency-based oil and gas qualifications from CGLI; management training programmes to Level 7 from CMI; security programmes from Edexcel; performing engineering operations from CGLI and others.An important aspect of my work was to maintain oversight of the Kuwaiti and Saudi personnel technical training programmes in country and overseas delivered by external training contractors.A prime role was coaching senior KGOC and Chevron staff in management and leadership.

My primary role was to coach senior KGOC and Chevron managers in management and leadership to improve performance using the CMI Level 7 curriculum and gain CM status. I developed and delivered management and leadership training and assessment to all grades of supervisory staff.Maintain NVQ assessment practices to standards required by Chartered Management Institute (CMI) of the UK. Levels 3, 5 and 7.I trained prospective, new and current trainers and assessors.

A not-for-profit training organization in the UK delivering NVQ training to disadvantaged youths using the European Social Fund (ESF). YBT won NHBC Youthbuilding Award 4 times in succession and received an award from EU for innovative use of ESF in youth projects.

Head of Center for Built Environment - managing budget and curriculum for NVQs in construction, furniture design and manufacture, interior design, signwriting. Also managing fee earning units delivering qualifications leading to CORGI Gas and OFTEC registrations. Other programmes under my oversight were ONC, HNC and HND qualifications in Construction Project Management and Furniture Design

I developed and delivered teaching programmes to undergraduates in the Faculty of the Built Environment on the subject areas of Economics and Project Management.
