I also work with financial services firms on compliance, risk governance and cultural best practices. I am fascinated by the power of organisational culture and how it shapes success and failure.

As a General Counsel, I led a team of highly talented lawyers in Europe across all aspects of investment banking. I actively participated in all relevant business, risk and compliance approval and oversight committees, driving a pragmatic and commercially focused approach to managing legal risk. I worked with and observed most international law firms across areas of regulatory investigations, litigation, capital markets, financing, and corporate issues. I witnessed first-hand what great (and not great) client service looks and feels like.

Following the bankruptcy of Lehman, I led the legal team in London on the disposal or unwinding of highly complex derivative and asset management structures and transactions, in a highly charged and fluid environment.

As an equity partner specialising in private equity transactions, I led and built a team of English lawyers to commence and grow the English law capability of the London office. From a management perspective I also oversaw, on the ground, the opening and growth of the Firms’ Hong Kong and Shanghai offices from greenfield sites.
