Founded in 1932, Godfreys celebrated its 90th Anniversary in 2022.I was originally recruited into the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), during the midst of the ASX-listed (ASX:GFY) public-to-private takeover by the Johnston Family.Approximately one year later, I was promoted to CEO, reporting to the Board of Directors, with a mandate to execute a whole of business turnaround.A strategy to enhance Godfreys’ relevance to the consumer of ‘today’ was developed and executed over 3 years. The strategy focused on three (3) key pillars: people, product (licenced, own-brand & third-party) and property.My direct reports included the Chief Operating Officer (COO), CFO, General Manager (GM) Retail, GM Marketing and GM Commercial.

The Munro Footwear Group (MFG) is Australia’s largest non-athleisure footwear business comprising of: Fusion Retail Brands (FRB) (formerly the Colorado Group), Cinori, Midas, Mollini, Mountfords, StyleTread, Styling Services and Wanted. The Group operated over 280 retail stores and generated revenue of ~$250m.I transitioned from Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FRB, to COO of MFG, reporting to the CEO and the Board of Directors, following the merger of FRB and MFG.As part of my role, I was also a member of the Integration Steering Committee.Operationally, I was responsible for the following functions/departments: People & Culture, Information Technology (IT), Work Health Safety (WHS), Supply Chain & Logistics, Property (leasing and store development), Customer Experience (CX) / Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Fusion Rewards (Loyalty Program).

Fusion Retail Brands (FRB) (formerly Colorado Group), was one of Australia’s oldest and most iconic footwear businesses comprising: Colorado, Diana Ferrari, Mathers and Williams the Shoemen (over 150 years old).I was recruited by the shareholders, Korda Mentha, Nomura (Special Situations Fund) and the Johnston Family, into the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Chief Operating Officer (COO), to partner with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to develop and execute a whole of business turnaround. In my role, I reported to the CEO, the Board of Directors and shareholder(s).As CFO/COO, I was financially and operationally responsible for annual turnover of ~$200m, a ~200 store retail network and ~1,650 employees.Functionally, I was responsible for the Finance, Commercial, Customer Experience (CX) / Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Fusion Rewards (Loyalty Program), Human Resources, Payroll, Information Technology (IT), Property (leasing and store development), Work Health Safety (WHS) and Supply Chain & Logistics departments.

Investec provides a range of financial products and services to clients globally.In my role within Corporate and Acquisition Finance, I was responsible for delivering structured financing solutions from senior debt to equity.My responsibilities included the origination, evaluation, negotiation, documentation and investment in debt and private equity transactions.I also managed senior executive relationships across high net worth, corporate, institutional and sponsor clientele spanning a range of industries.

O’Sullivan Partners (acquired by Lazard in 2013) was a leading independent corporate advisory firm specialising in mergers & acquisitions, equity capital markets and strategic advice.In my role, I was a key contributor to the team responsible for the successful execution of numerous complex listed mergers & acquisitions transactions including:• West Australian Newspapers – A$4.1bn acquisition of Seven Media Group (Australia’s largest M&A transaction in 2011)• RP Data – Sale to CoreLogic (RP Data’s US-listed 40% strategic shareholder) (2011)• Energy Developments – Strategic Review and subsequent ~A$800m acquisition by Pacific Equity Partners (2010)• Bank of Queensland – acquisition of St. Andrew’s Insurance from CBA • Bank of Queensland – Strategic Review and A$380m equity capital raising • Incitec Pivot – A$3bn acquisition of Dyno Nobel (2nd largest M&A transaction in 2008)
