I research predictive analytics on social media to understand large scale population behavior. My leverages Big Data methods for machine learning and knowledge extraction for research in social sciences, immunology, political science, economics, and statistical physics.

I developed Big Data methods to analyze terabytes of time series log data across multiple machines for understanding machine failures. Our time series analysis revealed latent machine failure causes that were unnoticed by prior expert-based manual analysis.

• Developed an alternate, experimental version of Project Darkstar's persistence layer for transaction research. • Implemented a scalable deque for the system and assisted in designing other data structures. • Created a transparent caching system for read-only data, which was one of the most requested features by the community.

• Developed software for a five-person start-up based on presenting internet content as a continuously browsable media stream. • Created semantic clustering algorithm to relate pop-culture data. Relations were combined with a novel graphical front end for an internet-as-appliance browser. • Generated a working prototype that was essential in securing a second round of angel funding.

• Designed and implemented a high-concurrency, scalable hash map for use in the transactional application server.• Developed a customizable logging layer to allow transactional semantics on top of existing Java logging. • Constructed a new profiling framework and an internal testing platform with an associated scripting language for rapid test scenario prototyping.
