An Engineering Technician of over a decade who is seeking to pursue a career in Software Engineering. Coming from Civil Engineering, I have shown the ability to handle new responsibilities until I eventually found myself managing projects and technicians.Key Highlights as a Project Manager/Technical Analyst/Engineering Technician:•Deployed Laboratory Management Software and assisted in the operation of it in three states•Learned to manage projects and eventually took over project management duties•Handled clients out in the field•Took lead on getting a laboratory recertified•Developed several Excel sheets for laboratory calculations, including a few that required heavy use of macros written in VBA•Managed team of techniciansDuring this time I went back to school and was rewarded a BS in Computer Engineering from UTD. I'd always been interested in coding programs (full stack), chips, processors, etc. This is why I chose to study Computer Engineering and I'm incredibly happy that I did. What I learned is invaluable and helped me attain the knowledge I was seeking.Highlights of what I learned at University:•Application development•Hardware and testing electrical networks, including using software to test (Verilog)•Coding programs with Java, C++, and JavaScript•Assembly languages (MIPS)•How technology advanced and the basics behind itWhile I was seeking my advanced education full-time, I was also working full-time and increasing my responsibilities as an Engineering Technician. After 6 years of managing my time to make this possible it almost feels like I have too much time available nowadays!That's what I believe makes me an employee that can bring great benefits to a company. Whether programming and development, project management, or whatever may be assigned to me, I learn and grow and become invaluable. A few of my managers have tried to talk me into coming back into Civil Engineering and working/managing their laboratories. However, I am set on pursuing my new career.With that in mind, I have been spending time studying and sharpening my skills in programming (full stack) and development. While I haven't been able to use all of it in a work environment, yet, I have been working with the following recently:•Java•JavaScript•SQL•AWS•Excel/VBA•Game developmentMy hope is that I will get a chance to use my Computer Engineering degree in a full-time capacity in the near future.
