My introduction to management career opportunities started as an assistant manager. The duties included open & closing, cash handling including deposits, customer service. My mentor, Paul Streck, provided opportunities for me to experience new store openings, see what needed fixed, figure out how to fix it, maintain the results; because when I had my own store I would know what to do. A partnership developed that permitted our sales per square foot to grow, our seasonal staff to flex up to sixty associates, provide great customer service. Soft lines merchandising standards, human resource, and overall operation were my major responsibilities.

Duluth & Kennsaw Georgia

Detection of shoplifter by direct observation and security booths were used. Monthly fire system inspection were required and audited.

Greenville & Anderson South Carolina

Two opportunities to use prior loss prevention experience to create a department to reduce shrinkage due to shoplifting. The departments included one full time and two part time associates. Closed circuit television camera system was used for observation, detection, recording, and prosecution of individuals. Responsibilities included interviewing, training, and scheduling.

Mansfield, Ohio Area

Reported to operation manager concerning external and internal issues causing shrinkage. Closed circuit television camera system was operated to observe, and record activities in the store. Reduced check write off by creating merge file data base to track, mail notices, and document activity for collection or prosecution.
