The Family Resource Center in Palo Verde, a housing community at UCI, is a facility for student parents to come with their children and have a place to relax. I developed a script to generate the sign-in sheets that contain the information for the families who visit the family center. Throughout the day I lead activities with the children to cultivate their learning and give them a healthy experience living in the housing community. On some special days, we host events for the student parents to keep them engaged and active in the community. We strive to foster a welcoming environment for student families and offer any help we can, whether it be a place for them to rest without worrying about their child, or offering food and coffee. We also offer homework help and assistance for the children who attend grade school.

I was responsible for teaching classes of 1-2 students and designing a personalized curriculum for each student I had. I would guide them through the languages they were interested in and taught them through brief lectures and projects which incorporated the concepts discussed during the lecture/demonstration. In my lectures, I often put a large emphasis on the fundamental programming skills since I believe it is always important and relevant to a programmer. Oftentimes students will come to the next class with more work on their project done out of hours or with questions about concepts outside of the scope of class.
