Functioned as a focal for the Navigation and Sensor Enterprise: generating and driving cost takeout projects aligned with business strategic priorities via innovative design improvements. • Coordinated projects operating across multiple company sites and on many different product lines. Projects included NPD, optimization, and cost reduction.• Generated costed schedules using MS Project, developed and maintained risk registries, and drove projects from inception, through qualification, and production implementation. • Managed 17 projects at once (minimum of 10 projects) with a return on investment ranging from 2:1 to 10:1. On track for a $6M savings goal for 2020.

Managed Value Engineering projects generating savings from material cost takeout approaches. • Project product lines included navigation and space sensors and inertial units at multiple company sites. Worked with national and international suppliers.• Developed cross functional project teams, generated qualification SOW, schedule, and man load while reporting status and savings to stakeholders and upper management. • Generated program savings from product yield improvement – 2017 $2.3 M, 2018 $700k, and in 2019 $730k. • Functioned as a technical resource for engineering development of sensor physics and manufacturing processes.

Designed and analyzed proximity sensors as well as silicon and sapphire pressure sensors for aerospace. • Generated designs and analyzed new proximity sensors configurations for various customers.• Optimized designs and provided production support for existing proximity sensors for commercial and military aircraft. • Program tools included ANSYS, MSC Patran, and Autodesk Inventor.

Brought onboard to conduct FEA on single-axis and biaxial MEMs mirror devices. This included structural & dynamic simulations, statistical performance based on the simulations using DOEs, and correlation with empirical data. Additionally, responsible for the packaging design of the initial prototypes.

Project Engineer designing low cost quartz and MEMs accelerometers from concept through production transition. • Reduced the cost of a high-volume accelerometer product by standardization and elimination of components, simplifying manufacturing methods, and redesigning the sensor for optimal performance. This accelerometer became the mainstay of Honeywell’s family of midrange navigators at volumes of 127,000 units per year.• Provided precision navigation sensor designs for drilling orientation modules operating under high temperature and high shock environments. • Led the design and packaging of critical sensing elements for an extreme precision accelerometer demonstrating performance improvement of 10X. • Designed and analyzed quartz flexure accelerometers and thermal switch devices for high-g and high temperature applications.• Performed finite element analysis, demonstrated understanding of sensor physics, data acquisition methods, and the use of six sigma tools - thought map, DOE, FMEA.
