Hyva Group is the leading global provider of innovative and highly efficient transport solutions for the commercial vehicle and environmental services providers industry. My responsability was to create new hydraulic products for lifting and grabbing using Excel and Inventor. Then using Ansys software i simulated the strength of the component. I also developed many new plastic components to help modernise the product range.

South Holland

Merford Cabins develop, produce and supply operator cabins and cabin components for various types of Industrial Cranes, Custom Vehicles, Machines and installations worldwide. Merford produced their products from steel bended sheet, I was brought in to develop new parts from plastic and fiberglass as well as design special custom cabins. The Project I am most proud of is a Custom Refuse Truck Cabin. I designed the entire steel shell, Vacuum formed dashboard and fiberglass roof, grill and corner panels with mounted Lights. This was a great chance to use all my experience, working in Concept Design, Sheet Metal and Plastic Part design. The projects I created were processed in Citrix before being passed to purchasing and then production.

South Holland

Synventive Molding Solutions leads the industry in developing innovative solutions for injection molding applications. They are a global leader in melt delivery and flow control technology. Since Synventive brought me to The Netherlands from the UK in September 2005 they have entrusted me to manage two of there largest branches (Great Britain and Italy). As project leader, for each branch I am responsible for a "Customer Management Team" (CMT). Each CMT includes four design engineers and to manage the planning, design and production of our projects in Germany I use a web based ORACLE package. To improve internal workflow and milestone tracking I have implemented Excel spreadsheets that are now used as a company standard to track the 100+ projects I am responsible for. As an application engineer, I have daily branch and customer contact regarding advice, sales support and product suitability. I have gained a good understanding of the plastic molding process to help with product selection and problem solving giving me good customer and technical sales support. I also to generate, supply and understand material pressure drop and mold flow analysis. As an ORACLE user we are also encouraged to Communicate ideas and improvements along the way.

George Utz is a leading Supplier of bespoke and stock products, providing technical material handling solutions. When I started at UTZ the position required that I ran the UK design department. This involved the design of new injection, vacuum and blow molded products and tools. On a daily basis I liaised with our sales managers about customer material handling challenges and new packaging solutions. I was given the position of technical sales support because of the good relationships I formed with customers and toolmakers during customer consultations. Depending on the complexity of the projects I would visit customers to understand and note details of their material handling needs. I then produced a concept design solution, estimated costs for the tooling and production then presented selling costs to the sales managers. I would then design and detail both product and the tool, present detail drawings and discuss approval, modifications and technical reports with the customer. Upon approval I would select the supplier for prototype and production mould tools and raise the purchase order. I was continually responsible to source suppliers for tooling injection, vacuum and blow molded parts in the UK and overseas to improve product quality and reduce delivery times.

In my position as Design Engineer Consultant, my main responsibility was the design of injection and gas assist mould tools for plastic and die cast products. This involved first the design of the general tool assembly for customer approval, then moving onto the fully detailed and dimensioned technical drawings with bill of materials. At CLD I was also involved in the design, development and fabrication of Concept components for a broad range of products. The tool design was extremely complex and diverse. A few examples are Multi cavity sliding core vehicle radiator tank tools, Bob the builder tractors and wet shave razors.
