There has been a very quite period during Covid that gave me time to reflect on the changes within the Australian Energy market. There has been a major change from basic vanilla contracts to utilisation of new technologies and trends. I am of the belief that software and AI are more than ever vitally important in the future of reliable energy.

Despite the unique software the Covid 19 situation was very damaging to this start up company. My contract with Ample ceased in late 2020 when they closed Australian operations.

Over the last year or so there have been significant developments within the energy sector and we will continue to look for interesting new concepts to assist our clients with their energy needs. My role with IBM was in the New Client Acquisition team where my focus was on a selection of Government clients and Energy and Utility companies. Starting as A Business Development Manager I soon moved to the role of Corporate Energy Group Manager. This was strategic position as one of my main responsibilities was to be a conduit between sales and trading as well as the full responsibility of the Corporate Energy team. This team was responsible for the major Commercial and Industrial accounts and as such were probably the most important segment of the retail business for profitability and volatility risk of the energy portfolio.
