I'm a Producer, currently living in San Francisco, CA. After earning my graduate degree in Animation & Visual Effects from Drexel University, I went on to hold a variety of technical art positions at Pixar Animation Studios. Here, I worked on films including "Coco," "Inside Out," "Finding Dory," "Brave," and more. In addition to my technical work, I've also helped initiate a few programs to influence content strategy, technology research, and studio culture at Pixar. I collaborate with independent filmmakers on projects that have appeared in the festival circuit, including the 89th Academy Awards nominee, "Borrowed Time." Alongside of Pixar's Senior VP of Development, Lindsey Collins, we pioneered Pixar's new short film program, "SparkShorts," an initiative designed to identify and support a diverse group of upcoming Directors, Producers, and their teams, as they develop animated films on some of the leanest budgets and fastest schedules at Pixar. I was the Producer on the program's first film, "Smash and Grab," and acted as the programmatic Production Supervisor on seven films thereafter, including "Purl," "Kitbull," "Float," "Wind," "Loop," "Out," and "Burrow." These eight "SparkShorts" are the first original short-form films from Pixar to be featured on Disney+.Now, I've taken on a new role as series Producer for Pixar's first ever, original long form series, "Win or Lose," directed by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, coming to Disney+ in February 2025!To learn more about many of the projects happening at Pixar, visit www.pixar.com.To see more of my work, visit www.davidmlally.com.

Pixar's SparkShorts program is designed to discover new storytellers, storytelling techniques, and production workflows within Pixar. SparkShorts are unlike anything we’ve ever done at the studio, providing an opportunity to unlock the potential of individual artists and their inventive filmmaking approaches on a smaller scale than our normal fare. Who are the future directors and producers and what crazy new ideas do they have brewing? What is the next big breakthrough in our industry?SparkShorts is part of Pixar's Creative Development team. As Production Supervisor, I have the privilege of working with Pixar's upcoming Directors, Producers, Animators, and Technical Artists, discovering the best ways to tell their stories on some of the leanest budgets and fastest-paced schedules at Pixar. Along with Pixar's VP of Development, Lindsey Collins, I support the dedicated filmmaking teams from initial creative pitch, all the way through post-production, helping oversee story development, production management, and technology application across the shows. SparkShorts encourages our artists to take risks, tell creatively diverse stories, and continue to show Pixar something new.Learn more about SparkShorts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J20kmqY28KIwww.pixar.com/sparkshorts/"PURL" directed by Kristen Lester (2019) (Production Lead) (Pixar/Disney+)"SMASH AND GRAB" directed by Brian Larsen (2019) (Producer) (Pixar/Disney+)"KITBULL" directed by Rosana Sullivan (2019) (Production Lead) (Pixar/Disney+)”FLOAT” directed by Bobby Rubio (2019) (Production Lead) (Pixar/Disney+)“WIND” directed by Edwin Chang (2019) (Production Lead) (Pixar/Disney+)“LOOP” directed by Erica Milsom (2019) (Production Lead) (Pixar/Disney+)"OUT" directed by Steven Clay Hunter (2019) (Executive Producer) (Pixar/Disney+)"BURROW" directed by Madeline Sharafian (2020) (Executive Producer) (Pixar/Disney+)

Pixar’s Creative Development team is exploring new and exciting ways to tell stories across media. As the New Media Production Lead, I help connect Pixar’s creative, production, and technology groups to allow even more Directors, Producers, Animators, and Technical Artists to share their stories across current and experimental platforms. One of my main areas of focus is Pixar’s new shorts program, SPARKSHORTS. Together with Pixar's VP of Development, Lindsey Collins, we've grown the program from an experimental, grassroots initiative, into a studio staple, allowing for up to five times the number of creative opportunities for our artists, and building up the next generation of Pixar’s storytellers. The program encourages artists to take risks, tell creatively diverse stories, and show the studio something new.Learn more about SparkShorts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J20kmqY28KIwww.pixar.com/sparkshorts/

I was the Producer of "Smash and Grab" (directed by Brian Larsen), which is one of the first shorts in Pixar's SparkShorts series. This film premiered at the El Capitan Theater in January 2019, followed by an online debut shortly after. "Smash and Grab" will be included with other SparkShorts on Disney+, the streaming service from Disney, launching in 2019. This project featured one of the leanest budgets and one of the most aggressive schedules for original content at Pixar. The production involved the application of alternative production strategies relative to other Pixar projects, as well as numerous new technologies that operated both inside and outside of Pixar's traditional production pipeline.
