As Head of Alternatives Investments at Alexander Forbes Investments, David focused on the development of our private markets programmes in South Africa, Africa and Globally. The AFI Private Markets programmes are multi-managed solutions invested across Infrastructure, Private Equity, Unlisted Credit and Direct Property via several underlying investment mandates. The AFI Private Markets programmes provide clients a unique, well-diversified entry point into the asset class with the dual focus of delivering a sustainable commercial return whilst providing a tangible ESG dividend and material social impact.

Based in the FMO Regional office in Johannesburg, my core skills and responsibilities' include:Origination, structuring and execution of Private Equity Fund, Co-investment and direct equity financing proposals across generalist sectors within the FMO PE Africa team;Relationship and stakeholder management across a portfolio of Private Equity Fund, Co-investments and direct equity investments across the Southern Africa region;Business development and lead generation across both debt and equity sector teams within the SADC region for the regional office; andCollaboration, mentorship and skills development with peers and team members within the PE Africa and/or regional office team.

Financial structuring of mezzanine debt, quasi-equity and equity financing solutions for corporate clients across Sub-Saharan Africa;Execution of key due diligence procedures per transaction which consider amongst others Financial, Structural, Legal, Tax, Country, Market and Sector risks;Risk management and monitoring of a portfolio of mezzanine debt, equity-like and direct equity exposures;Development of key executive level MI portfolio reporting promoting sound governance and risk portfolio management; andRelationship management amongst internal and external stakeholders

Execution of independent valuation and due diligence procedures for Private Equity Funds, Private Equity Fund of Funds, Investment holding companies and individual corporate clients across Africa;Development of customised reporting solutions on a per client basis tailored for executive level review;Business development and relationship management for both existing and prospective clients across Sub-Saharan Africa; andInvolved in strategic business planning and internal stakeholder management and mentoring;

Structuring and re-design of undergraduate finance course curricula;Convening and management of undergraduates finance courses; and Supervision of undergraduate research dissertations.
