I was brought on board to roll out Reval’s software for banking and corporate clients spanning a wide range of industries and regions, with a focus on automating processes and strengthening risk management. My primary duties include gathering client requirements, managing project scopes and adhering to the client’s business strategy. I also oversee on-site training on software to ensure optimal usage. In this role, I leverage hedge accounting expertise regularly (IAS 39 & IFRS 9).✔ Currently engaging with one of the largest banking groups in the UK to enhance their hedge accounting reporting accuracy and efficiency through automation within Reval’s system.✔ Improved one of the largest food & beverage companies in the UK’s reporting and process efficiency around commodities, thus strengthening their risk management by analysing and advising on process automation using Reval software.✔ Optimised a media sector client’s Treasury function through initiating automation of their cash management activities with Reval software.

In this leadership role, I counselled corporate clients in a variety of industries on strategically managing their FX and interest rate exposure in addition to establishing a stringent risk management policy. Additionally, I led projects to enhance treasury productivity and coordinated client / internal training on treasury and risk management matters. Advising clients on hedge accounting and financial information disclosures within iGAAP (IAS 39-IFRS 9, Spanish GAAP, IFRS 7 and IFRS 13) was also part of my scope of responsibility.✔ Played a key role in independent business review projects through creating models for future financial statements to anticipate and address cash flow challenges with solutions like bank borrowing, debt issuance and equity increase.✔ Provided expert-level consultation during treasury projects to improve efficiencies for top Spanish corporate clients; oversaw process reviews, cash pooling and reorganisation of the banking relationships structure.✔ Produced contingency plans for corporate clients regarding a hypothetical Eurozone breakup.✔ Advised a telecom spinoff client in optimising their Treasury function through automation and process re-engineering.

IBERIA Airlines is Spain’s largest airline; merged with British Airways in 2011 to create the IAG Group, although both airlines operate under their original brands. I was appointed to contribute to back-office operations relating to hedging activities. Soon after, the role evolved to include management of the Group’s foreign currency (AR / AP and balance sheet) and interest rate exposure. ✔ Played a key role in strategic projects including treasury centralisation in Madrid involving the exchange of financial messages through SWIFT in addition to the rollout of cash pooling and a treasury management system (Quantum and QRisk from Sungard).✔ Documented and analysed the impact of IAS 39 within the derivatives portfolio.
