About David Neorchik
Lexis Nexis Risk solutions - Threatmetrix is a technology company dedicated to identity. I work within the Device Intelligence team responsible for the development of software with the purpose of collecting information from client deployments. Threatmetrix employs scrum to deliver regular updates in a release schedule format. Prior to Threatmetrix, I worked within BT’s Australian dedicated security development house actively pursuing the full SDLC for various red team projects generating tools requiring development in kernels and user space applications. I have also worked within the financial sector for Milliman, an Actuarial firm developing a calculation engine with the primary purpose of generating Monte Carlo simulations. During my time at OpenTV, I developed their operating system for multiple Foxtel set-top box models delivering a world first feature followed by working on the Foxtel television factories material management system in a real time message passing OS.

Senior Software Engineer
My role within the Threatmetrix Device Intelligence team involves developing software for the purpose of capturing information from within our delivery vectors and to manage that data collection as it comes in, with transaction rates typically above ranging around 400,000,000 per day. The components employed to achieve this goal involve a web-based solution designed to be integrated into client portals and architectures across all major OS and browser combinations and an application integration component. The SDK components target application deployments for all major mobile and client OS which include; Android Linux, gnu Linux, iOS, MacOS and Windows across architectures and address spaces, x86, MIPS, ARM.• Working within apache module devel, tomcat for business logic, Linux daemons and client OS targets via an sdk in the applications supply chain.• Obfuscation of all operations and data, implementations and over the wire interactions to reduce bad actor countermeasure development and reduce client interaction requirements to keep friction in the security vs usability trade off low.• Constant information gathering development in environments, which are constantly changing, hardening and increasing in obfuscation themselves.• Developing Anti fraudster detection improvements while operating from inside client deployments within the limitations imposed by modern sandboxing technologies.
Software Engineer
Primarily the role entails full SDLC adherence and utilisation to deliver red team software involving both kernel and user space development for the purposes of BT and its customer’s security concerns from within BT Security. These solutions typically required a deep knowledge of the Linux kernel, its user space processes and various windows user space processes.• Extensive knowledge of the Linux kernel, developing for the Linux kernel in C99, the Linux networking stack and userspace processes.• Development of userspace applications primarily in C++17 and python 2.7 for various flavours of Windows and Linux.• Developing test tooling to monitor, penetrate and protect attack surfaces within BT and their customers deployed systems, applications and infrastructure.• A dedicated development house geared towards R’n’D, Requirements capture, Generating POC’s, design and design documentation, testing and associated documentation, generating the implementation while observing a full agile SDLC utilising git flow and the Atlassian stack.• Developing tooling for automated testing. Applying testing to all feasible levels of development, unit, feature, SIT, UAT and regression testing. If it isn’t tested working, it does not work, as an ethos.
Software Engineer
Primarily the development and maintenance of the calculation engine written in C++ utilizing Boost and QuantLib. The engine is capable of stochastic model generation and simpler file inputs assuming the input contract is honored. The engine is primarily supplied in the form of a lib which is capable of being wrapped in multiple delivery methods, currently supported; a web service accepting soap requests, a server wrapper accepting berkley socket connections accepting soap requests, a test harness handling xml ( SOAP ) file io, a simple app wrapper designed to comply and run on compute grids, currenlty supported Microsoft azure and Milliman propietary formats. The c# generated web service accepts input via a SOAP interface. The test harness is incorporated into an automated test environment and CI with automated reporting essentially tied together with Jenkins to perform regression testing and evaluation.More recently we've generated an x64 version in Ms Windows aswell as Linux and a universal build capable of building any version from the one maintainable location.A skinable web front end has also been produced initially for testing which has graduated to become a consultant tool for internal Quant/Actuary staff.I've recently started work on the existing internal local hedge reporting system which pushes work to the compute grids operating the calculation engine work, then collects and collates that data to generate reporting.
Software Engineer
Second year: RuzzTv team, ApplicationsA large parallel processing environment largely responsible for managing material throughout the television factory, operating and integrating with various physical workflows and integrating across a the ecosystem of devices within the factory to perform the various functions required by a broadcaster. included: Ingest operations and updates of new material from a drop boxes, schedules and external databases, barcoding and QA of material operations, missing material operations, expiry, space management, transmission control, interactive adverts and all their associated logic paths.• Worked on maintaining a large code base predominantly in C++ (mix of languages and technologies) with quite allot of domain specific knowledge. Heavily involved with SQL (The solution largely functions and coordinates via an OO schema on MySQL involving a high degree of cohesion and occasionally also high levels of coupling), some bash and some proprietary scripting. Some formal python training undertaken of which was to be utilized in some near future projects.• Involved in a large overarching project porting from QNX to a Linux ( Red Hat ) substrate for the entire eco system of Ruzz technologies. • A Large mature parallel processing system with relatively little documentation requiring a great deal of communication with staff. This level of communication created an opportunity to become much more skilled in understanding more difficult problems inherent in a large mature parallel system. • Actively participated in fault finding, bug resolution for complex race conditions inherent in a largely parallel environment, fixes and general changes required by an in use evolving system as the clients required.• Given tasks in performing additions to facilitate new client requirements.• Tasks in design and construction of new libraries and interfaces to facilitate simple use of complex underlying systems.
Software Engineer
First year: OpenTV, OS and Middleware development teamA head end, playout and set top box operating system and middleware manufacturer, my role encompassed working with the local implementation of the OS and Middleware employed on set top box hardware primarily for the Foxtel and formerly MyStar projects. • Created a working prototype of the DSMCC integrated OS used for testing and initial deployment build design. Used to proof function, fit for purpose and analysis of throughput numbers.• To facilitate my function within the role I had learned allot of domain specific knowledge, local television broadcasting standards (DVB), a new large code base and threaded infrastructure Exclusively in ANSI C, whereby an internally developed compiler churned the code into MIPs instructions for the hardware.• Analyzed hashing algorithm collision issues through a mathematical proof and produced domain specific data, analyzed performance issues and produced reporting to management.• Generated some associated test tools in C++, scripts in bash, python and awk(perl-ish) to analyze traces for test result analysis.• Took an active part in the construction of the test environment, which involved understanding DVB and low level MPEG, the transmission of television broadcast signals from a lower level through to the tested device utilizing all the associated hardware in between.• Helped to troubleshoot and refine the deployment DSMCC build.• Help to resolve issues with the integration of XMPP into the OS and built a test application and associated test environment. The application was to perform automated tests as well as support end user generated testing for engineers and later QA, of which I supported throughout the cycle and produced a web front end UI.
Software Engineer
I primarily worked on porting a warning, command and control system for Telstra's SMS infrastructure from pre c89 code to c++03 which involved an architectural change from a procedural model to an OO model. I cannot say enough positive things about the work environment provided and the caliber of the people I worked with during my time with Protocom.
