I have specialised in producing all form of mass participation events for the past 20 years. Devising ideas for everything from triathlons, trail runs and open water swims. Making them happen and filling them.The most recent a possibly the most successful of all my projects being THE LAP. A beautiful 47 mile trail ultra around Lake Windermere (Windermere). Clockwise in May, anticlockwise in September. Fully way-marked, tracked, 6 aid stations, route-map provided, and also the GPX for those with GPS devices to follow.THE LAP ↪️ September: Launched first in 2019 - sold out in 2020 between lockdowns. THE LAP ↩️ May: Launched July 2020 - sold out first year during lockdowns, using only organic social media and no other paid advertising. The only ultra to happen in 2020 with the full sanction of Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Constabulary and all other local authorities. The first ultra to happen in May 2021 with all the same permissions.First devised as an entry level, no navigation ultra attracting large numbers of first timers. We no see the fully way-marked aspect attracting increasing numbers of the faster top end trail and mountain runners. That, and the absolutely stunning route.From 2014 To 2020 I hosted a series of successful Fly Fishing Film Festivals and fishing trade expos in Scotland and the North of England.Having spent much of my 20’s travelling and working around the world, I have called The South Lakes home since 1999.A mountain biker since the early 90’s, I spent much of the time (back in the day) studying maps, dodging forestry workers and cutting trails that have now mostly been incorporated into various trail centres.Having always had a knack for making cool stuff happen and been involved with events and challenges, I was thrilled in 2003 to secure a role with Guide Dogs for the Blind UK as Sports and Challenge Events Co-ordinator, later becoming National Mass Participation Events Manager.This let to me creating and developing several cycling, running and multi-sport events that generate steady fundraising income to this day.
