Recruited by Sonic’s CIO to help integrate IT from nine acquisitions across the U.S. that created nine relatively autonomous divisions with 30 different locations and over 500 service centers for this $780 million, 6,100 employee company. The divisions presented special integration challenges because they operate as a federation of nine independent entities under a parent company umbrella.Notable Accomplishments Included:Implemented nationwide integrated network to support the roll-out of application standardization across divisions to eliminate redundant systems, reduce vendor support costs, reduce data center resource requirements and increase availability through consolidating and leveraging data center resources.Led consolidation of data centers from an external Co-Location to In-House. Facilitated the physical move of two divisions’ large data centers.Effected the physical to virtual conversation of 81 Corporate IT systems over two years through a VMWare environment build and recursive capacity planning and upgrades.Initiated DMZ creation to provide security and protection between the Internet and all internal systems; established email monitoring of Protected Health Information to insure legal compliance and clients’ privacy.Led global infrastructure and application coordination with Australian parent company to define and implement networking and applications standards throughout the U.S. divisions. Recruited to this $7 billion company reporting to Director of IT to manage all openVMS Caché Systems. Promoted two years later to report to CTO as Senior Manager – Corporate IT Architecture and Engineering to research and develop new architectures, technologies, software, and hardware. Included overall management of direct and matrix resources across multiple organizations, and hands-on technical work.Senior Manager – Corporate IT Architecture and Engineering (2006 to 2009)Directed the review, analysis, testing and implementation of new technologies, architectures, development tools, software and hardware. Updated senior management and communicated technology changes to the IT staff. Hosted internal broadcasts and coordinated trade shows for senior management and staff to communicate technology developments.Technology upgrade of results delivery infrastructure. Managed and coordinated projects across all development organizations. Directed a budget of $7 M.Restructured the department to better utilize expertise and resources increasing effectiveness and allowing staff reductions.Solved several application performance problems by working with the application development groups to reduce data traffic allowing installation at more sites while avoiding unnecessary communications upgrade costs.Associate Vice President – Corporate Systems & Applications Support (1995 to 2001)Staff of 44 responsible for all production systems at 24 sites nationwide.Led eight month cross-departmental effort to reduced error rates, increase customer satisfaction and enhance production efficiencies.Consolidated eight data centers and nationally dispersed systems into two regional data centers increasing availability and reducing costs.Integrated eight disparate technical groups into a single organization allowing the team to leverage expertise and experience across multiple technical areas.Developed front-end document imaging systems for order entry automation and document archive.
