About David Remy
I have been in the IT field in some shape or form since 1998 when I started working on home computers as a hobby. Once I graduated in 2002 I started working towards an Associate degree at a local community college and started making my hobby a little more serious. In late 2004 I was hired by Pine Creek High School as one of three onsite technicians. When hired at PCHS I was N+ certified and had extensive training in many of the MCSE/MCSA tests and had studied for the CCNA and A+ test but never taken the certification tests. On February 29, 2008 I married my wonderful wife. Now married, working towards a Bachelor of Science, Information Technology with an Emphasis in Network, and still working for the same high school I decided to make my ‘hobby’ an LLC. Remy Services, LLC was reborn, specializing in onsite computer repairs, malware removal and hardware support.Within the school district I have since moved up and now maintain all the physical security systems for the district and work with the IT team on various projects including SharePoint, SCCM, Exchange and AD.Specialties: SharePoint 2007, SharePoint 2010, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Deployment Services, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Sysprep, WinDSX, Panasonic Video Surveillance, System Center Configuration Manager, AvePoint, Remote Support with Bomgar, Onsite and Online Support, Malware and Virus Removal, Data Recovery and Laptop Repairs.
Listed skills include Servers, Active Directory, Windows Server, Windows 7, and 45 others.

Systems And Database Specialist
Network Engineer
I was responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting all network equipment, from endpoint to internet, for 33 buildings to provide reliable and redundant support for 30,000 users and their various devices. Systems which I was directly responsible for were a pair of Palo Alto PA-7050 firewalls in Active/Pass HA, HP/Aruba ProCurve routers and switches, Nimble CS300 SAN storage devices, Barracuda Email Security Gateway, and all virtual system environments running both Hyper-V and VMWare.Implementing, maintaining and supporting 180+ physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers to provide the required services, and the monitoring of those services, for an entire school district with minimal downtime was a primary role. Remaining up to date on security best practices and vulnerabilities was crucial in keeping the system running supported software and OS while remaining secured from internal and external attackers.Auditing and reviewing security on all attached devices to secure them from internal and external attackers by implementing RBAC on supported systems was an ongoing project. Within Active Directory this included implementing AGDLP security groups for all administrator privileged accounts.Monitoring mail filtering in a Office365 hybrid setup, with Barracuda Email Security Gateway and Cloud Protection Layer, and a mix of Linux servers, provided availability for 30,000 legitimate emails to be delivered per day, close to 11 million emails per year.
Security Network Specialist
This position was split across the District Security and Information Technology departments with the primary job responsibility of designing, deploying, maintaining, and improving all network based physical security infrastructure with a secondary responsibility being to support the Information Technology department. The physical security infrastructure included over 600 IP cameras, 10 NVR's with a combined 160TB of storage, thousands of motion detectors, and a few hundred card readers and associated electronic strikes. The split nature of this position, security and IT, created two sources of management and meant I needed to be able to effectively relay the necessary information between the two departments on a daily basis. When starting this position the physical security infrastructure was new to the district and I was the first, and only, employee hired to maintain the infrastructure. Designing and implementing the methods for tracking issues, detecting device outages, and finding incorrect device configurations were all tasks I needed to complete in order to effectively maintain the infrastructure.Security equipment included Panasonic, Axis and Sony IP cameras all being recorded by Panasonic WJ-ND400 NVRs, with Telex IP223 Radio over IP, and WinDSX access control software.
Pc/Network Technician
In this position I was one of three Level 2 PC Technicians that covered 28 schools, 8000+ computers and 30,000+ users across the northern side of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Locations that were covered by me directly included the Education and Administration Center, seven elementary schools, one one K-12 campus, one high school, and one middle school. I supported district administration staff and teachers with a wide range of devices and software including client OS's (Windows XP through Windows 7), Microsoft Office (2003 through 2010), as well as Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices. Managing file shares and permissions, print server configuration for 700+ printers, WSUS, Group Policy, and Organizational Unit structure was key to providing effective support.
Technology Technician
I provided tech support in a team of three for 700+ computers ranging from administration to student computers in a high school of 1700+ users. During my time in this position I implemented and maintained a variety of Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2003 R2 servers for file and print sharing, LANDesk Management Suite, LANDesk Security Suite, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Exchange 2003, SQL Server 2003 and other educational software like ClassServer and the Microsoft Learning Gateway. When starting this position all PCs were running Windows 98 and 98se and were quickly upgraded to XP. Central management was limited and computers were within a single workgroup with generic accounts for most users. Due to this limitation I created custom scripts to manage passwords, settings and software on all computers. These were maintained until Active Directory was adopted by the district.
Software Support Technician
I provided software and networking solutions for clients issues regarding the Actiontec DSL modem in a small team support center. This required a thorough working knowledge of the Windows 95, 98, ME and 2000 operating systems as well as Actiontec's software and hardware.
