As a Senior Technical Writer with a strong technology background I find myself increasingly dealing with Operational Technology (OT) and Information Security. OT is where an organisation makes the product they are known for, so it is vital that this area is protected. One problem that many discover the hard way, is it is not possible to apply the same priorities and practices to harden against cyber attacks in OT as in the IT world.My approach as a writer in this space is to absorb as much as is required to understand where the organisation is in their ISMS implementation journey and make sure my writing reflects and enables their requirements as far as possible. I am guided by my understanding OT priorities, working with the leadership team, and working withing the ISO27001 framework.
