The Trust started life as Cambridge Meridian Education Trust (CMET) which was incorporated in March 2009 in order to enter the competition to promote the new schools at Northstowe a new town proposed between Swavesey and Cambridge. It was founded by those who already were passionate about education in the area – the governors and trustees of Swavesey Village College; an outstandingly successful and innovative school.In March 2011 CMET became Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT), a multi-academy trust, this enabled Swavesey Village College to convert to academy status, sponsor other academies, and help spread good education practice.In April 2022 Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT) and Cambridge Primary Education Trust (CPET) confirm their voluntary merger – and become Meridian Trust.Under the new Meridian Trust, 23 CMAT primary, secondary and special schools will come together with five CPET primary schools, educating approximately 17,000 pupils. The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Teaching School Hub, based at CPET’s Histon and Impington Brook Primary School, will also become part of Meridian Trust.

Currently working as a member of the College senior executive team where I am responsibility for the Upskilling and Retraining of Adults. Programmes including Basic Skills such as English, Maths, English for Speakers of other Languages, alongside programmes that engage people back into education and work which are delivered from our Learning centres, employers premises and other locations across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Additionally, I work with a variety of external stakeholders, partners and employers to plan, develop and provide the strategic overview of various programmes such as Princes Trust, Traineeships, and pre-employment/engagement programmes. These provide our students with the tools to achieve their full potential and contribute to the region’s economy.

I was responsible for the strategic development and operational delivery of the College’s Adult Learning programmes through their regional Learning Centres in Suffolk and South Norfolk; encompassing English, Maths, ESOL, Leisure and Community Learning and various unemployment programmes in partnership with Jobcentre Plus. Additional responsibility for the delivery of Elective Home Education, Traineeships, Princes Trust and the National Citizen Service.

I worked with a variety of external stakeholders and employers to coordinate and develop the various employment services schemes locally and regionally. This involved coordinating the Employment Services Team to identify and address customers’ individual barriers to sustainable employment, delivering employment focused training support to groups and providing 1-2-1 information, advice, guidance and support throughout the programmes to help customers into long term employment.
