With a background in electrical engineering, software development, and project management combined with knowledge of current trends and industry requirements, I focus on how to incorporate the latest technologies into new products for homes and industry. My project management experience has given me an understanding of development costs, time to market, and project scheduling that contributes to the success of developing a new product. Tying everything together are several years as the Engineering Manager for groups of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers which has allowed me to determine staffing requirements, create budgets, and work with other departments in the organization to plan for the future.Most recently I have been investigating new product ideas for home automation and commercial energy management systems which has led to working with the various mesh network protocols, the use of remote sensors, and how the Internet of Things can tie everything together. These activities have benefited from my design experience with lighting controls, motor controls, and sensor-based controls.
