ColdFire is a 32-bit microprocessor based off the long standing and widely known 68K family. ColdFire has a broad product portfolio from low end MCU to high end MPU with equivalently scaled peripheral integration. I technically support the entire product line from hardware design-in, to software development, to using the wide selection of open-source and proprietary development tools.
Was the first ColdFire factory application engineer. Worked with design and tools vendors to develop the ColdFire debugger interface (BDM) hardware that integrated into various third party IDE's. Reviewed technical publications (Reference Manuals, Data Sheets, Product Briefs) for ColdFire documents for accuracy and content. Mentored follow-on application engineers of which 6 engineers remain today in various capacities.
Worked closely with Marketing to develop NPI (new product introduction) collateral material to present to distributors and end customers. Managed tool vendor relations. Managed evaluation board specification, design, build, manufacturing, testing, and collateral documentation and software. Managed a growing team of factory application engineers to support the growing ColdFire portfolio. Supported customers globally.Interfaced to silicon design team, product engineering team, as well as local FAE's for difficult customer issues.
Maintained a Reconnaissance ground station that processed and/or stored aerial camera pictures. Operated and maintained a laser beam recorder (LBR) that recorded real-time imagery to continuous film. LBR was electro-mechanical as well as a film processing station. Operated and developed digital picture evaluation software to review, crop, and enhance aerial imagery using a MicroVAX II. Supported aerial camera integration into PODs that attached to various military aircraft. Supported debugging, testing, and aerial certification of Infrared Line Scanner camera.
