Able to lead a change in culture in these previously non-serviced wards, working with the nursing, medical and allied health teams to integrate clinical pharmacy into the provision of patient care in order to achieve the utmost in patient outcomes. Further to this, I was involved in both outpatient and inpatient dispensing as well as delivering group educational seminars to patients enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation programs. My involvement in the provision of chemotherapy to both day patients (via chemotherapy day clinics) and hospital inpatients as Chemotherapy Pharmacist has been particularly rewarding and challenging. In this role, I have been responsible for organising the supply of chemotherapeutic agents from various manufacturers, liasing with treating oncologists and haematologists and collaborating with nursing staff to ensure the efficient delivery of time-sensitive chemotherapy to patients in a safe manner. In addition to this, I was responsible for the administrative tasks associated with the supply of chemotherapy, namely claiming reimbursement for these expensive treatments from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).My tenure at Epworth HealthCare has been an invaluable experience, allowing me to develop my problem solving and time management skills, especially in the course of implementing ward services.
