This practical experience gave me firsthand insights into the pros and cons of both poorly and well-managed workplaces. It was this exposure that sparked my interest in how safety systems work and their profound impact on team performance and productivity. It also inspired me to continue my education and explore new pathways in safety and organizational development.When I transitioned to TAFE, the real strength I developed was in building trust, rapport, and engagement with students and colleagues alike. My focus was on fostering strong relationships, which in turn allowed me to develop highly attuned people skills and leadership abilities. By creating an environment where individuals felt supported, I gained a deeper understanding of how to motivate and lead people effectively—skills that have become fundamental to my approach in driving safety and organizational change.In recent years, I earned a Graduate Certificate in Business Management, deepening my understanding of both strategic and operational management systems. This, along with my leadership on a major project to achieve ISO certification at Yallourn Power Station, has driven significant improvements in safety processes and compliance across the organization.
