David provides legal and regulatory advice on commercial contracts, compliance, climate action, digital telecoms policy, trade, antitrust and IPR. He has co-founded successful start-ups in emerging markets, including M-KOPA in East Africa, and has worked for several Charitable Foundations. David is currently General Counsel at C40, working with global city mayors to deliver climate action for citizens. Previously, as General Counsel at the GSMA, David worked extensively with tech CEOs and has led industry discussions with the EU Commission, the US Government and in other national fora. He has also created a practical handbook series as a guide to help explain aspects of digital markets law to regulators and participants. David started life as a lawyer with the UK firm Linklaters and worked for the US law firm Jones Day. He has lived and worked in the UK, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Ireland and the US and speaks English, French, Spanish, Catalan and Italian.
