David Weiß is a passionate inventor, entrepreneur, and committed volunteer in water rescue. At 18, he received a special award in the renowned German research competition, Jugend forscht, for his invention of the Emergency Lane Camera (ELC), a camera system designed to automatically detect and report emergency lane blockages. His innovations also include Project Gaffop, where he developed a Wall against gawkers with a suction cup capable of adhering to various surfaces, including asphalt.David is also a co-founder of thinc! Darmstadt e.V., a student-led initiative focused on fostering entrepreneurship. As a member of the Executive Board, he was Head of Marketing (2023/2024) and is now Head of Finance and Legal (2024/2025). He represents thinc! Darmstadt in a regional network of student entrepreneurship initiatives, working collaboratively to strengthen the startup ecosystem in the Rhine-Main region.Currently studying Mechatronics at IU, David is also exploring new business ventures, channeling his technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit into his next startup.In addition to his technical projects, David is deeply involved in community service through the German Life Saving Association (DLRG). Here, he serves in multiple roles, including Youth Treasurer, coordinator of the local lake rescue/ observation and a paramedic. He actively participates in water rescue missions and in disaster control.
