The extra input I provided was how to use social media, RSS feeds, podcasts, and blogs as part of personal learning network. I had the pleasure of teaching mainly science subjects (anatomy & physiology, clinical medicine) while employed at the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences. In order to encourage students to discover and use valid and reliable online resources, I set up a closed anatomy & physiology group on Facebook. Students were invited to share any online resource, which they believed useful, with the rest of the group. I also taught students how to conduct online searches and how to assess and critique those resources.

Part of the condition of completing my masters requires that I participate in fieldwork placements. I was fortunate that the library at the Endeavour College of Natural Health was willing to accommodate me. During the time I spent there, I fulfilled the standard operations of working in a library such as assisting staff and students with enquiries, locating resources, and using equipment. I also spent time on the circulation desk and shelved items. Being an academic library, I was involved in critiquing software from a user perspective that, at some point in the future, was to be used by the students. As a result of this, I not only wrote a critique but extra instructions for the use of the software. The remaining part of my fieldwork placement was spent sourcing and assessing online video tutorials to be used by students.

I trained staff in the use of corporate management systems, occupational healthy and safety, and environmental management systems. I was responsible for the maintenance of training records and monitoring training effectiveness.
