Print documentary providing a vital perspective to daily conversations about culture, identity, fandom, and the role the internet has played in fueling divisions. Independent interview series unraveling tangled questions about online culture wars, fandom, and entertainment labor issues using videogames as a Trojan horse to examine how they resonate/mirror various industries and subcultures. At least 20% of the time I was able to get people from other industries—like TV, film, VFX, YA, the military, architecture criticism, rap, supply-chain activism, restaurants—to step in and talk about what their profession did when facing similar issues. The result is a holistic, living archive of conversations on technology’s impact on society and its evolving responses.This research is archived by Stanford, and was featured in USA Today and VentureBeat. Engaged in pilot projects with University of Washington, Carnegie-Mellon, and Northeastern University to develop this work into a comprehensive resource to understand the story of early 21st century digital life.

Experienced in merging industry expertise with academic rigor everywhere from serving as an invited speaker at USC and DePaul University for classes on public intellectualism and arts journalism to developing online courses for University of Utah in the pre-Zoom era. In my "funny days" I created and led courses training students on how to create effective comedy pieces, and pulled guest speakers including Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad, Mr. Show) and Dave Willis (Aqua Teen Hunger Force)

Wrote/edited local entertainment features, restaurant capsule blurbs, and hundreds of concert previews for weekly print edition while building distinct voice and audience within a national media outlet.Led daily digital editorial operations. Managed and mentored freelancers and interns who have gone on to become film critics for RogerEbert.com and news directors at Pitchfork.Skilled in getting people “off-script” with a relaxed demeanor during interviews.
