CurrentInternal Communications, Engagement And Change Specialist
As director of Inside Edge Communications, I provide freelance strategic and tactical support to internal communication and employee engagement projects, and undertake short-term interim assignments.From September 2016 to September 2018 I was contracted by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as engagement and cultural change manager on a major real estate change programme affecting over 800 buildings and 80,000 colleagues. This involved a significant reduction to the estate, a major change to the estates service model, contracting of new service providers and a restructure of the DWP Estates team.
Behavioural Change Manager (Contract)
As part of a cross-functional programme team, I developed and implemented a change communications plan to support the ways of working programme. This programme affected over 3000 Store Support Centre colleagues and involved the rollout of new technology, transformation of the Holborn Head Office to activity-based working, and the introduction of flexible working for all support colleagues. Key activities included: - Change communication planning and delivery, using a combination of face-to-face sessions, printed collateral, Yammer and video- Conducting regular listening sessions with colleagues, using their feedback to inform programme decisions and produce regular reports to track behavioural changeAs part of this contract I also supported the review and implementation of a new performance management approach affecting management-level colleagues.
Engagement And Communications Manager
At Sodexo I was responsible for developing and delivering employee engagement measurement and strategy for 35,000 UK & Ireland employees, along with all HR communications. Key achievements included: - Developing a ‘Focus on Five’ campaign to communicate Sodexo’s leadership priorities, helping achieve the Investors in People bronze standard in just nine months- Increasing engagement survey participation from 46% to 77%, and engagement levels by five points- Designing and implementing a team huddle approach which was quickly adopted across the business - Co-developing the Sodexo Brand Ambassador Programme for all employees, a finalist at the 2015 national HR Distinction Awards- Delivering communications to support major HR change programmes, including an extensive team restructure and the introduction of pensions automatic enrolment- Organising and delivering two successful HR annual conferences
Senior Internal Communications Manager
At DWP I developed internal communication strategies and plans to support business priorities, including:- supporting a corporate centre restructure involving 11,000 employees- developing an organisational change team briefing/DVD programme for 110,000 staff - planning an organisation-wide campaign to enhance customer focus- delivering People Survey communications which increased response rates by one quarterI was also responsible for developing DWP's first employee engagement strategy, building strong relationships between Corporate Communications and HR on delivery.At the start of my time with DWP I led a small team to deliver a stretching event programme, including quarterly senior leader conferences and bi-monthly events for first line employees. I also led a team of three senior internal communication advisers as part of a one-year secondment.

At Warwick I was recruited on a fixed term contract primarily to plan and implement communications for a major long-term job evaluation and pay restructuring project involving all 5000 academic, administrative and support employees.
