As an intern in the IBM Z compilers department I:• Gained experience in backend compiler development on the Automatic Binary Optimizer (ABO) development team for COBOL on z/OS • Wrote C++ code to improve existing compiler backend optimizations and write intermediate language generation functions as well as z/Architecture assembly code generation functions for future versions of ABO• Modified IBM TD2 testcases for compiler testing on z/OS and wrote COBOL unit tests to verify development work• Worked with the team to coordinate source control management and feature releases as well as test run deployment
