About Davis Taylor
As the only economist at a small liberal arts college that emphasizes interdisciplinarity and environmental and social sustainability, my expertise is connecting and communicating economics to a wide range of other subjects and topics, particularly relating to sustainability, ecological economics, cooperation, and cooperatives. I specialize in communicating these themes to audiences who have varying degrees of background in the relevant topics. I have team taught with marine biologists, botanists, historians, agroecologists, and anthropologists, among others. My current interest is in expanding my microeconomics teaching to better incorporate the role of cooperation, networks and trust in explaining economic phenomena; I am also developing a course titled "Leaving Capitalism," that will examine the means, ends, and ontology of a better economy. I am interested in small-scale farming, homesteading, ways of living a less consumptive lifestyle, and solitude.
