DaVona Pacley is a multifaceted being, who has turned her passions into action. She is a seer, truth seeker, impassioned and open-hearted; involved in initiatives that promote social change and growth. DaVona was born and resides in Erie, PA with her Wife. She graduated from Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Arts, Sociology. In 2019, DaVona ran for Erie City Council as the first Black queer womxn candidate. This experience catapulted her into community advocacy. Since then, she has become a persistent and positive voice in the Erie community. Although she did not win a seat, her vision of creating a livable city for all that focuses on creating an inclusive and diverse environment for the well-being of the Erie community by co-founding Erie’s Black Wall Street with her wife, Angelica Spraggins and colleague Kyra Taylor. DaVona is a birth & bereavement doula, reiki practitioner and meditation instructor. She identifies as a Black, queer, womanist human being. Her work is intersectional, as she advocates and supports the wellbeing of all people, centering Black womxn and TLGBQIA2S+ people to eliminate racial, cultural and socioeconomic disparities in all systems. She is a trained doula and small business owner of Flow Freely. DaVona offers her services as a community doula with BirthRoot Community Doula Alliance in Erie. Currently, DaVona works part time as the Community Engagement Associate for Erie Arts & Culture and the Public Steward Associate for Journey to a Trauma-Informed Life. She is a Board Member for the Erie Art Museum; a former Board Member of Erie’s Black Wall Street. Lastly, DaVona is a Commissioner for the PA Commission on LGBT+ Affairs. Occasionally, DaVona models for and photographs with local brands such as RabbIIIt and SHE Vintage.
