My early career began working in the sports and leisure industry, this tied in with my love of sports, especially gymnastics ( I was a member of the National Squad for 12 years). During this time I ran a local gymnastics club and also coached on a voluntary basis at my local gymnastics club. Another passion of mine is German culture and I spent 8 months living and working as an Au Pair near Cologne. The majority of my career has been spent in Call Centre Management and Financial Services. I was a Financial Advisor for Norwich Union and Pearl Assurance. I was also a Mortgage Advisor for a local Estate Agency. I have always had a passion for driving and in my early 40's decided to retrain as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). I qualified in 2008 and have since achieved a Grade A status. I set up Passport Driving School in 2010 with my husband Dave, who is an Ordit Registered Instructor Trainer. We also took over Alpha Driving School in 2012 and then in 2018 we took over Apollo Driving School. As well as providing learner driver tuition, we also provide instructor training for instructors coming into the industry. For existing instructors, we provide CPD, standard check training and Train The Trainer. We care about our instructors success, we keep in touch with them on a personal level and communicate regularly.We additionally provide training for anyone entering emergency services and for learners with additional needs such as ASD etc. I am totally committed to CPD and regularly participate in online and classroom based courses. Although I still instruct part time, I am predominantly office based, managing our 40 strong instructors throughout the North East of England. We have managed to keep the business going strong, despite COVID 19. Throughout the pandemic we proudly taught and successfully got Key Workers through their tests.
