Part of a small pioneering team we sold online display advertising across Carlton TV Groups family of websites including Simply Food (food & drink), PopCorn (film guide) & Jamba (games site). We worked extensively with London ad agencies devising creative ways to use online advertising - these were the days of the 468x60 banner and the new 120x600 skyscraper, but also the days of that crazy dhtml rich media overlay ads that would follow your mouse around the page :) Fun! We were voted Best Online Sales Team by the ad agencies that year. I developed my sales management skills here; bringing on two grads and building my foundation agency contacts.

My first role in media sales and what a place to start! Always the underdog in national press, working here required dedication, passion, tenacity and the will to never give up! Great AIDA sales training, strict work routine laid the foundation for an effective media sales executive. I worked through Independent Traders classifieds, then headed up the Property Team where I was determined to increase the pages of the property section both editorially and for advertising. I then earned the right to move in the Agency Sales recruitment team where I was allowed to hit the streets of London and the offices of the recruitment advertising agencies like Barker, TCS Media. Best memory - the Guardian Reps getting stuck in a lift...
