Having started in the admissions department I worked my way up via switchboard operations and registrations in the emergency room as well as patients going to the floor. I learned how to verify insurance benefits as well as start the pre-authorization process. I then moved into the billing position and have learned the ins and outs of Medicare as well as most other major insurance carriers. Medicare is my specialty and I find it very challenging as well as rewarding, I love helping people understand their coverage, especially the older customers. Every day is a new day in this market and the rules change very quickly which keeps me on my toes. I not only oversee the software used for billing insurance claims but also post payments and adjustments, making sure each balance as well as keep the Medicare logs for cost reporting and other various corporate reports used for gathering data mostly at month end but also during the regular monthly business operation.
