Contracted through SWIFT working for BP.Wellsite geology roles occur onsite on both rotary and coil tubing rigs in the Prudhoe Bay Field. Responsibilities include detailed morning and afternoon reports cataloging drilling operations and geological observations throughout the surface, intermediate and production section of the well. Critical wellbore intervals such as whipstock placement, casing landing picks, kick off points and wellpath deflections are made as the well is drilled. Once in the production section, the well is geosteered using correlation wells and real time MWD data. Samples are periodically monitored for stratigraphic comparisons ( to that of the geosteering "picture") as well as wellbore health (monitoring for cavings or excessive cuttings). Other responsibilities include monitoring the production casing installation and noting any tight spots or areas of concern due to Formation. Some research is undertaken to further understand the characteristics of the various plays in the area and how they can affect circulation, mud and drilling parameters. Sample pictures and data are collected and displayed in PowerPoint or poster format as additional visual aids for onsite work.

I perform in house well monitoring specifically related to geologic formation interpretation and geosteering in build and lateral well sections.Current responsibilities include daily file management and database upkeep which requires work with both GeoGraphix and Petra database systems. My primary focus is to monitor oil and gas wells to ensure plans are being followed, Gamma ray is correlating and the wellbore is in the best stratigraphic position possible. Gas values are also monitored and mudlogging reports reviewed for a more in depth understanding of local structure and wellbore health. All MWD information is gathered in the lateral sections and mapped using HNAV geosteering software. Calculations are made to accurately determine well path location, local geologic structure and optimal pay zone targets. This information is compiled in reports and delivered to asset geologists in the office where it may be reviewed for consideration.This position allows me extensive experience with multiple geologic plays including Utica/Point Pleasant Formations, Eagel Ford Shale and Austin Chalk Formations, Woodbine/Lewisville/Halliday Sands and the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale Formation.

Extensive experience with SES geosteering software. Familiarity with open hole and cased hole wireline processes, data acquisition and interpretation of data ranging from Resistivity, Spontaneous Potential, Neutron, Density, Gamma Ray, Caliper, Compensated Sonic, Cement Bond Log, Sonic Scanner and Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP). Core logging, description and recording also undertaken.

Marcellus Shale Play - Bradford County, Pa

Over two years experience as both a lead and second wellsite geologist on drilling rigs exploring the Pennsylvania Marcellus Shale play. Experience with both vertical and horizontal unconventional wells.Daily responsibilities include detailed morning reports, direct communication with both field managers and client play geologists, sample cleaning, washing and analysis, gas detector maintenance and repair as well as data interpretation and strip log correlation.Over thirty horizontal wells logged in the Marcellus shale. Excellent understanding of Gamma correlation and geosteering through build and lateral sections.
