Teaching special education in the Dallas Independent School District. In this role, I am case manager to all students I teach which includes setting up and conducting Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, teaching students of varying grade level and ability, and ensuring students are working toward Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

-Trained school campus and faculty members on topics including suicide, child abuse, and bullying.-Offered crisis counseling and intervention to students and families needing additional mental health support.-Provided career guidance for teens entering high school. Diligently worked to enroll students in as many AP and other credit bearing courses for maximal success in post secondary education programs.-Built master schedule of classes in middle school with diverse student population including extremely high functioning gifted and talented students, students with emotional disturbance, students in lower socio-economic brackets, and students characterized as average.-Worked with community partners to provide resources for the students including mentors, clothing and other basic supplies, and teacher appreciation incentives.-Spearheaded RTI roll-out at middle school level with students on my course load.-Worked on multi-disciplinary teams to ensure positive student outcomes. Set up meetings with school personnel and family members to construct and implement development plans.
