My name is Dawson, I am a student at the University of Central Florida and a part of the Burnett Honors College, and I am working on a major in electrical engineering. I became interested in engineering after I started to excel in calculus-level math and physics classes during high school and wanted to pursue a career based on these classes. I currently work part-time for 4 Rivers Smokehouse as a dining room service member and have been working there since January 2022. I hope to join the technology industry and earn an internship/job as an electrical engineer.My high school career is marked by excellence and leadership. I participated in multiple extracurricular activities, including my high school marching band where I held leadership roles such as uniform officer and equipment manager. These taught me valuable life skills: including managing materials and team members. I was also the treasurer of the Warriors for Environmental Activism club and a member of the National Honor Society chapter at my high school. During school, I continuously pushed myself to perform to my highest capabilities. I took countless honors and AP classes, as well as dual enrollment classes through Valencia College. I earned the Gold Shield award my school offers to students who maintain a 4.0 unweighted GPA throughout their four years of high school and the Bright Futures scholarship, awarded to students who earn a score of 1330 (SAT)/29 (ACT) or higher, 100 hours of community service, and a GPA of 3.5 or higher.My greatest achievement is earning my Eagle Scout rank in my senior year of high school. To earn this rank, a scout must progress through the other six scouting ranks, each more difficult than the last. The scout must then prove they can lead a team of equals in creating a project designed to aid the larger community. My project was creating new storage units for the percussion department of my high school band. During this project, I gathered materials, planned and executed multiple fundraising projects, scheduled work days for my team to get together and construct the storage units, transported them to the site, and spent over a hundred hours planning, leading, and finishing this monumental task. In the end, I earned my prestigious rank and gained valuable knowledge to help aid me in my future careers and endeavors.
