The Mission of the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage is to introduce visitors to the beauty and diversity of that heritage in the context of the American experience. It promotes an understanding of Jewish history, religion, and culture and builds bridges of tolerance and understanding with those of other religions, races, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds, serving as an educational resource for Northeast Ohio’s diverse communities.

Executed the President & CEO’s philanthropic priorities. Provided direct management of the CEO's high impact donor caseload as well as prospective donors. Stayed abreast of current events and influencers in collaboration with executive management team. Provided guidance and insight to the President & CEO on relationship building opportunities with key donors and facilitating opportunities for various constituencies to engage with the President & CEO. Identified, cultivated and solicited an extensive portfolio of existing and prospective transformational gift donors.

The Southwest Regional office of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in Houston extends from El Paso on the west end of Texas to Beaumont on the east end, and all points south. Major cities in the region include Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, El Paso, and Beaumont.ADL’s Southwest Region’s banner programs include No Place for Hate®, fighting hatred and encouraging diversity in schools K-12, and our Community of Respect® encouraging respect and inclusion in all other areas of the community, such as businesses and community organizations.We handle complaints of discrimination, racism and anti-Semitism, monitor extremists and domestic terrorists, and work with many in the community, including law enforcement, to fight hatred in all its forms. Our well-established Coalition for Mutual Respect program has led the community in creating avenues of interfaith understanding and dialogue for nearly 15 years.ADL’s Southwest Region sponsors several major fundraising events annually including its Torch of Liberty Award Dinner, Karen H. Susman Jurisprudence Award Luncheon, and Walter Kase Teacher Excellence Award Luncheon. In 2013, ADL’s Southwest Region sponsored its Houston In Concert Against Hate in lieu of its annual Torch of Liberty Award Dinner.

Provided overall management and direction for staff of 11 in Planning and Allocations department and direct reports of five. Built relationships with volunteer and professional leadership of 16 beneficiary agencies of the Federation providing oversight of agencies and allocation of resources. Researched and developed programmatic responses to community needs and priorities. Reported to Senior Vice President of Organizational and Community Development. • Leveraged the thought leadership and development to implementation. • Addressed new and emerging social service needs within the Jewish community, particularly financial distress and aging. Through demographic research it was found that 19% of the Jewish community lived within 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. • Build bridges of cooperation between organizations encouraging efficient sharing of resources and information for cultural change. • Allocated over $28M from the Annual Federation Campaign to the organizations that serve the community’s greatest needs. • Provided annual support to 20 solicitors for the Federation’s Campaign for Jewish needs responsible for raising $400k+ as well as solicited individual prospects. • Promoted special fundraising opportunities to match specific donors’ interests beyond those addressed by Annual Federation Campaign

Provided overall management and direction for Community Relations department with staff of three. Reported to VP of External Affairs. • Served as key staff person in creation of Global Cleveland. Worked with CSU College of Urban Affairs, City of Cleveland Mayors office, large business in Cleveland and the Cleveland Foundation. • Promoted equality of opportunity without regard to religion, race or sex. Advocated for legislation to protect LGBT Ohioans from discrimination in the workplace, collaborated with NAACP to support voter rights and worked with various community partners to combat anti-Muslim assaults. • Ensured freedom of religion and separation of church and state by helping state legislatures understand the value of separation of religion and state. Intervened at local schools when needed to ensure protection of student religious rights.• Cultivated working relationships with non-Jewish and cross-sectional groups. Conducted annual Passover Seder for the labor community. Developed relationships with key leaders in all 5 Protestant church groups. Developed close relationships with key leaders in Catholic Diocese and supported annual Catholic / Jewish colloquium. • Interpreted Israel’s position and needs to public and elected officials and countered efforts to increase economic and political pressure on Israel. • Wrote model contingency plan for Federation to respond to possible attack by the US and/or another state actor on Iran. • Formed coalitions and organized numerous campaigns of public education, town hall meetings and rallies to focus public attention on issues and causes. Served as key convener in Cleveland for campaign to draw attentions to genocide in Darfur.• Expanded volunteer program to engage members of Jewish community in broader community. Worked with Cleveland Metropolitan School District to expand Public Education Initiative growing from one school site to seven in literacy tutor program.
