The IIA is a lobby group representing the internet industry, it works with government and industry to create a safer, faster, better internet. We worked with government on the Privacy, Copyright and Spam Acts and promoted the concepts of a National Broadband Network to all political parties leading up to the Rudd Governments election, developing a national broadband policy paper.I also worked with several virtual task forces to tackle issue like cybercrime, e-security and online content issues such as email spam and viruses and the Australian governments internet filter project.

The XMPP Standards Foundation is an independent, nonprofit standards development organization whose primary mission is to define open protocols real-time communication and collaboration. The Foundation is part of the IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force) the standards and 'governing' body for the internet and it's associated technologies.As Chairman of the Board of Directors I was responsible for tackling issues around governance, policy and revenue generation via sponsorship and events, as well as pushing ideas into the organisation that would increase the awareness of this protocol within the global IT community.

Founded and managed the companies APAC Security Response team, managing a team of security analysts and developers. The team discovering some of the early email based worms such as BugBear. This role also entailed regular PR engagements in print, TV and Radio, speaking at industry events, managing the departments ICT, R&D systems and interface with enterprise support, product marketing, and sales across APAC.

Early work with integration and deployment of the MIMESweeper SMTP email filtering product and Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus for an Australian state government department.
